Our Story

The Bridge at Austin (TBA) was organized in December 2001 and has served as the model for senior enrichment in the South DeKalb County. With only 7 seniors enrolled in the program in 2002, the campus has grown to an average of 200 students a year. Having reached thousands of seniors and families in the community over years, The Bridge at Austin has served a focal point for quality education, health and wellness programs, and family resources.

The Bridge at Austin has outstanding partners and collaborations that have promoted our efforts, the resources provided by Bethesda Cathedral, Holder Construction, The Cochran Firm, Amerigroup, Clorox (Melanie Wilson), GE Foundation (LaShon Johns), and other funders, and particularly the devoted leadership of the The Bridge at Austin Board of Directors.

TBA has facilitated the reshaping of the goals of the organization, creating standards of quality throughout the community, maximizing health and wellness initiatives, and to share resources and collaborate on community concerns.

In its 18 year history, The Bridge at Austin has grown into the strong agency it is today. As we align with our mission with a focus to serve, strengthen, and mobilize metro Atlanta and surrounding counties by offering structured health and educational programs and progressive activities for the development of youth and aging adults.
